little mommy

Lmommy1

Lately, Lydia has become quite interested in baby dolls.  She's had a few around the house, but hasn't really shown any interest in them until about a week or so ago.  Every time I saw her last weekend, one was tagging along with her & yesterday when I picked her up from the babysitters, she cried when we had to leave the baby behind.  So today, when we went to Wal Mart to get groceries, we picked up some play baby bottles for her babies.  As soon as we got home we unpacked them & collected her babies so she could take care of them.  The doll she has above is one that Evan used to carry around for a brief time & it plays "rock a bye baby".  This baby may have gotten shaken a little too much today when she was being rocked to her music!
Crymommy

Yes, dear Lydia, sometimes being a mommy brings out this side in all of us!

totally crazy weekend update

Oh my, are we tired!  We've had a VERY full & busy weekend.  We started getting ready for our church/school auction & dinner Thursday evening.  We're on a committee w/ 5 other couples.  There are 2 new every year, rotating in & out.  This is our first year.  Thursday was getting the gym set up for the auction & setting up table in the cafeteria for the dinner.  Friday morning, bright & early, got the boys on the bus & Dan took Lydie to the sitters & headed to the school to "do turkeys".  We have parish members bake turkeys for our dinner (100 in total) & when they bring them back, cooked, we take the meat off the bone, separate white from dark.  Lots of work.... makes me not want to eat turkey so much!  Then we put covers on tables, go to gym to take donations, guys are getting stuff set up like sound system, stuff to set donations on, getting pop/beer for the auction, etc etc.  Late night.  Early again Saturday morning, lots to do.  I've been designated to make all the signs, taking lots of donations, labeling, working out how things will work for the auction, who's going to do what.  Auction starts at 7pm & goes til 10:30.  We stay after cleaning up & talking about how things are going.  Late night.  Sunday morning, reluctantly drag myself out of bed at 6:15 & decide to soak my aching back & feet in a nice hot tub.  Get out & start getting ready, Lydie was the only one at home with us, so she got to sleep in a little.  I get coffee going & go to the bathroom to blowdry my hair & suddenly THE POWER GOES OUT!  Dan hasn't even started to get ready & I still have to make myself look presentable, so we pack up our stuff & head to my sister's to finish getting ready.  Get a call from a girl on the committee that gets our dinner ready asking to use ovens to cook dressing...... yes, the power's out at the school where they're trying to prepare for a massive turkey dinner & our auction.  Hurry to get ready to get to school to help.... when we arrive their are local farmers, electricians, etc bringing in their generators & getting them wired up to get ovens running, lights going.  This is what is so great about our community... everyone is so giving & come together for what matters most!  Find out later that a bird flew into a substation & caused the power outage.  Go figure!  This is one busy day.  Dinner starts serving at 10:30 & our auction starts at 11:30.  Starts with grain & goes into the HUGE amount of donations that we have collected from businesses & parish members have brought in.  People are having a great time & the weather is great, so it's not too hot in the gym.  Amazingly, with the massive amounts of stuff we have to sell, the auction finishes at 10pm.  We are wiped out, running around all day, but we still have clean up..... tons of cans & trash.  We finish about 12am & have a little meeting with the bank about how things went.  Overall, it went great, thinking we're up some from last year, which is amazing, with all the financial distress lately.  So thankful for all the good people who are very passionate about our church & Holy Trinity schools..... everyone is so generous.  THANK YOU.  This morning it was hard to get up & thankfully my mom brought the kids to our house & got the kids to bed in decent time, but they are so tired from a very active weekend with friends & family.  ALSO, thanks to my niece PAYTON for watching the kids over the weekend & my sister CAROL for all her help with the kids as well.  Thanks MOM for all your help, I think you're probably as exhausted as we are.....love you!

In more important & serious news, Dan's dad, Joe, finally had his heart surgery on Friday morning.  Things went well.  Dan went to see him Saturday morning & got to talk a little to him.  So far, they are trying to get his heart beat under control, which I've been told is a normal thing after this type of surgery.  Yesterday, he had a little fluid in his lungs, which they took care of.  Hopefully today things will go better.... Dan hopes to go see him after work today.  Maybe he'll be out on Intensive Care by then.  KEEP PRAYING.

my life in the funny pages....

Babyblues

Hiandlois

My mom & sister are always clipping out Baby Blues for me.  Evidently my life parallels the comics.  I'm not sure how, but these guys know exactly how I'm feeling sometimes!  The Hi & Lois was a bonus one they clipped for me this week.  Scary, but true.

12x12 layouts

Greatestgiftlayout

Lydie1yr2

So these are a few 12x12 layouts I did forever ago & finally got around to taking pics of.  The top one are pictures my sister Carol took of the kids last summer & are truly some of my very favorites.... I love the expressions on their faces!  The second one are pictures a friend took of Lydie for her first birthday, she just opened her own studio in Mt. Pleasant at the beginning of the year.  She took several portraits of the boys when they were babies, we just love her!  I brought the antique blue chair & the gerbera daisy along for the shoot.... so cute.  If you're interested here's Amy's website here.

fun at the park

Cpark

Epark

Lpark

Last night we took the kids to a local park to burn some energy.  Lydie squealed w/ excitement when Dan was getting her out of the truck.  They had a great time.  The boys had gone Friday after school to camp with G&G Klesner.  When we picked them up yesterday afternoon, they weren't too thrilled with us, but I think G&G had had enough!  Today they'll get to play at another park with their friends from school while we check out the St. John's Harvest Festival in Houghton.  This is the first of the church sales around our communities that help to support our Catholic school.  The dinner is always yummy & it's fun to see what items are there to be auctioned off & see some friends we don't get to see too often.
