GPa M

Over the weekend we had a little excitement with Dan's dad.  Unfortunately with all the rain we had at the end of the week, alot of people had water in their basements, including Dan's parents.  Joe & Bev were working in their basement, trying to move things up & Joe wasn't feeling well.  When he was at the top of the steps, he fainted, tumbled down the steps & hit his head on a desk & knocked him out.  He spent the weekend in the hospital & they are still trying to figure out why he fainted.  I think next week he has some tests with the cardiologist, so keep him in your prayers, please.  Feel better & take it easy GPa Joe!

18 months

Lydie18

Lydiemotion

OK, so I'm a few days late on this, but thought I'd bring everyone up to date on Lydie @ 18 months.  She had her checkup on Tuesday & received rave reviews!  Our doctor is close to our hearts.... we always enjoy seeing Dr. Situmeang & his nurse, Christie.  They are almost as excited as we are that we finally had a little girl!  Dr. Situ also has a girl named Lydia in his clan of 9 kids.  Lydia is now 24 1/2 lbs & is 32 inches tall!  Puts her at about 50th % for both.  She is practicing doing alot of "mommy" things, like helping fold laundry, playing with her play kitchen, food & teaset, sweeping & putting things away.  She is also a girl in constant motion, as seen in the photo above.... this one portrays her perfectly.  Lydie is also throwing tantrums, which is always frustrating, but I just lay her carefully on the floor, so she doesn't hit her head, & let her go at it.  She's trying to say alot of words as well.  Mommy, Daddy, guys or boys (collin & evan), hey, hi, up, no, done, hot, cheese, yum, yes, Lydie, cat, dog, go, Lacey (aunt Kim's dog).  I'm sure there are more I'm not thinking of, but it seems that if we try to get her to say it she will try it at least once.  So that's all I can think of for the Lydie update, more later!

what a lovely face?

Lydiestairs

Since it's been a while since I posted, I thought I'd start out with a picture of Lydia & her pretty little face.  We never seemed to have this problem with the boys, but this is the second time this summer that she's had a scabbed up face.  This one happened while Dan was in St. Louis, so I had to warn him before he saw her.  I hope next summer her & the concrete play better together!  This pic is on our steps going upstairs to the kids bedrooms.  For a long time we had a baby gate spanning between our living room & my workroom to block off these stairs.  While Dan was away I decided I was going to take the gate down, since Lydia has been practicing alot on the steps, I thought she was ready & was hoping they'd lose a little of their excitement if she had access to them all the time.  She's done well so far, hopefully this will keep up.

Happy Birthday Dan!

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Dan, happy birthday to you.... how old are you? you live in a zoo!  {well, that does fit!}

Yep, today is my honey's birthday {as well as his twin sister, Donna, of course.....happy birthday Donna!}. This is #38 and I have to say, he's still as cute as ever!  Last night I baked him a devil's food cake with chocolate icing.  Evan added sprinkles & Collin put on the candles, I think he was 16.  We had a meeting to go to later, so my mom & sister Carol were going to watch the kiddos.... which made us lucky enough to score one of Dan's favorites, homemade fried chicken, mashed potatoes & corn.  Lydia begged grandpa for the beater from the mixer while he was making the potatoes {& of course she got it!}.

Today I think Lydia & I will take him out for lunch, since it sounds like he wants to stick around home tonight.  Unfortunately I think we've been home about 2 evenings over the last week or so.  This morning the kids & I surprised him with Reeses PB cups, a new wallet & Office Season 2 DVDs.  Maybe we'll veg out w/ popcorn & beer & watch the Office.

Not only is it Dan & Donna's birthdays, but Lydia turns 18 months today!  I'll have to get some pictures of them together.  Unfortunately, Lydia fell on the sidewalk the other day while Dan was in St. Louis & so when he came home, she was looking pretty rough.  Still looks bad.  She got her nose & a spot high on her forehead.  Just rashed the skin on the concrete, so hopefully by next week it will be mostly healed.  She goes for her checkup early next week.  Can't wait to see how much she's grown over the last 3 months.

Happy Birthday Honey....... I Love you!!!!!
& happy birthday to the best daddy EVER.....

what's happening here

very yucky, rainy & cold here today.  we've had a whirlwind of things going on around here over the last week.  dan was gone or busy with something about every night last week, so everything fell on me to get done.  sort of lonely, but does make me thankful for when we're all home together.  this week will be the same, dan's will be in st. louis a few days this week for training, so there will be a few mornings i'll have to get 2 on the bus by 7:10 & then lydie to the sitter, not to mention the nightly routine of baths, supper, homework, etc.  thank god for coffee!  i'll need it for sure this week.

lydia was feeling punky for the last few weeks, waking up in the middle of the night & just seeming uncomfortable.  most of last week she was waking up multiple times.... really brutal for us!  collin noticed her tongue looked funny {she doesn't let us see inside very often}.  the more i looked i noticed that she had something like canker sores on her tongue & inside lip.  i had these as a little girl & still remember how painful they were!  the boys had their checkups on friday & our dr took a look while we were there & said it was probably caused by a virus.  friday night she finally slept through the night!  thank goodness.... i hope this keeps up.  now evan's dealing with a sore mouth & throat.  poor guy doesn't complain much, but he's feeling it.

over the weekend we were constantly busy with the regular stuff that we need to get done on the weekend.  we also went to the wedding of Ryan & Jacqueline, Ryan is my cousin Vickie's son.  the boys had a great time at the reception... didn't bring my camera in, but collin & evan had some smooth moves on the dance floor!  lydia did alot of running around & finally just passed out about 8:00.

not much else happening around here....
