Remembering Cindy....

We found out some very sad news yesterday.  Our good friend Bob {who actually introduced Dan & I}, lost his wife, Cindy Monday night.  Cindy was such a great person & was a blessing to everyone who knew her.  She has battled diabetes for a good part of her life & over the last ten years has had a leg amputated & a pancreas transplant.  After the transplant, she was thriving, although if you know Cindy, she was always upbeat, no matter what was happening in her life.  A few years ago she got sick, I think with the flu & wasn't able to keep her anti-rejection meds down & her body ended up rejecting it.  So, she was back on dialysis & searching for a new transplant.  It was looking hopeful last year, when a childhood friend of Cindy's came up a match, but after a long road, they ended up not being able to do the transplant.  I think it came down to Cindy's antibodies or her friend's antibodies, or a combination of the two.  She was on a donator list for both a pancreas & a kidney.  It was a shock to hear that she had passed away, we didn't know she was sick.  I saw her a few weeks ago at a church event & she looked her normal, cheerful self.  Now I'm sad, I was chasing around after Lydie & didn't get to stop to talk to her more.

Our boys knew Cindy & last year when we were at a benefit for her, we explained to them about what was wrong & what she was going through.  When I explained to them yesterday that she had passed away, I made sure I let them know that even though she had so many troubles, she never let it show, was always so sweet & had a great attitude.  She was a great inspiration of how we should all live our lives.  Our prayers are with her parents, her family, friends & Bob.  There were so many people that knew & loved Cindy..... we'll miss you!
